I put so much time into these and I seriously can say that they're the best mixes I've made for this blog. These are the Mix-Tapes that I made for Mothers Day. I know I'm a few days early as usual, and I know this isn't the idea kinda music to give your Mother ha ha, but I wanted to do something special, Something that reminded me how strong my mom was: for working, taking care of 4 children as a single mother in a mans world. Growing up I saw my Mother as the hardest working and toughest person that I knew, I am extremely grateful for that and I would never wish for anything more. This goes out to you mom (Brenda B) and all of the other hard working mothers out there. Look forward to the 3rd mix to appear next year for Women's History Month

Now on the mix of all Female Emcees... To all the Feminist: I know it's a shame that there is this segregation in Hip-Hop with Gender & Race (the racial thing not as much these days) you still see Women being categorized as a "Female Emcee" or being labeled as a "Femcee" I thought: maybe because you don't see too many Females on the MIC? Or is it because Women are constantly being degraded in mainstream Rap music, so they don't really want much to do with it? Well I did some research and a lot of that is bull shit. They're are a lot of women out there doing this and they're GREAT, just like female Directors. They're just not getting the right recognition in the media nor the underground. So I said fuck it... I'll do an all Female Hip-Hop Mix.

Now I know there are other female Hip-Hop compilations out there and other obscure mixes compiled by other Blogers like The CartWheels On Concrete, that page has a lot up. A few months back I also bough the Fly Girls! B-Boys Beware on vinyl from Soul Jazz Record, that comp basically has a lot old school artist from the 80's, kinda like that Fat Beats & Brastraps Series that came out in the late 90's. I tried to focus on doing mostly underground artist from 1990-2010, some of these artist are recognizable, but the songs I put on by them are just awesome. There are some other mixes that came out with in the past few years like the Queendome Mix that tends to be a little more diverse and obscure then some of the other mass produced compilations.

Ohh and here is a 17 minute short documentary that was directed by Invincible called The Revival: We-B Girlz Hip Hop Tour Documentary featuring B Girl legends: Roxanne Shante, Bahamadia, along with Detroit MC Invincible across Europe on the first We B Girlz European tour. just click on the links.

Download WHITE from Drop.IO

I originally was not going to do a WHITE mix. It was something I was debating about within myself because of a silly reason. A friend of mine Matt Carter asked me if I was going to do a WHITE mix, I replied NO and he was a little disappointed. Matt's early art work had a feel of mockery to the Masculinity in White Supremacy by doing very detailed "Nazi Glitter" portraits. SO happens his Birthday is coming up on December 5th SO I went ahead and did this just for him. The Michael Jackson glove is a perfect homage and tribute to the perversion of Matt's art from my perspective... actually the first song on here is about Michale Jackson. Shockingly this mix came out really awesome. 2 of my all time favorite songs appear on this, which are the first 2 songs on [side a] but besides those, The rest of this mix has a very "Barbaric/Retro Futuristic" feel to it: sounds of a Tasmanians frustration with laser guns & robots... if that makes any sense? So basically its a pretty HEAVY one. 1st mix without any hip-hop but I think the bit of synthesizing sounds that appears on this makes up for that a little. Happy Birthday Matt! here is your demented WHITE mix ENJOY!

Download PINK from Drop.IO

OK I re-wrote my though on this... For some reason I thought this was really Poppy at first, but I'm listening to side B and its pretty aggressive at times. This mix is way more up beat then some others, So for me its a lot POP for my taste. Again the exercise and challenge to making these mixes with its limitations "based off of its theme" is to open my horizon a little ha ha ha. I'm not a music snob I truly try my hardest to appreciate something in all music... maybe jaded or bitter with it momentarily. There are very few newer artist who have caught my attention unless they're older cats from an already established band (from a time period before 2000) that is still doing stuff with newer artist... Like I said I'm trying to be positive about everything and give a lot of stuff a chance, no need for limitations.

Download BLUE from Drop.IO

I apologize for the lag time on this one. I was out of town for a little bit and when I came back 2 weeks ago I started this, then I had some issues with my computer so it took a little longer for that reason. I'd like to start off by saying this mix has a real smooth feel to it, its real chill and has a bit of a slow groove, not as ROCK as the other ones, there is a little on there though. side A is a bit smooth and electronic as in hip-hop/trip hop sounding majority of the time. Then side B is a little more natural, folky and acoustic at times... so this mix is real chill. I hope you enjoy it.

DER (exclusive)

Download "EXCUSIVE" Blood Der from Drop.IO

So I originally made this for the week of Halloween but I am going to be out of town that week. So I though I'd post this a little early. It might be a little while before I post some of the others. This was considered an EXCLUSIVE MIX because this isn't just a color concept it's also an evil blood concept and thats because a lot of these songs have a dark and Erie feel to it... so I thought it deserved its own mix. These are actually the kinda bands I am really into and I listen to a lot of this stuff, I had to be fair on what I put on this one. I didn't want this to just be all Goth or Metal so I thought I'd give it a little both. I hope I gave it a pretty good flow. I finally got to put a song from one of my all time favorite bands let alone favorite album and that is Swans the very last song on this mix. Oh and check out that time code, yup thats real son. Sorry, I know some Goth kids who cant stand Metal and I know Metal dudes who cant stand Goth... share you evil assholes.

Download RED from Drop.IO

OK to be honest there are some awesome songs on here that I was looking forward to put on this, which is great but I was way more excited for "EXCLUSIVE DER MIX" I'll talk more about that in its own entry. I'm sure you've noticed the time length in this is not as consistent as the others, well thats because I did a whole other red mix with a different feel, but I've made a few others that are going to be this short as well... personally some of the others are a lot longer then I attended them to be, but for this concept it was kind of hard to turn down some of the songs, and there actually was some good songs on a lot of these that didn't make it. I do plan to use those other songs on different mixes for certain reasons.

BROWN mix from Drop.IO

EHHH... I feel like some of my key words for this where a little ridiculous. All the decent songs that went well with each other had some sort of absurd word in its title. Don't get me wrong I definitely was looking forward to making this for that reason. I will say this one has more of a groove to it, a little more hip-hop then some of the others. I was happy to put one of my childhood friend's Hip-Hop group 101 from Detroit on this mix. It's the 2nd song and one of my favorites. I hope some of you enjoy this mix. I really try to make these as diverse as possible to maybe try and open some minds... even my own mind. A lot of these bands on these mix-tape's I haven't listened too or heard in years some even since High School, it's good to revisit that sometimes.

PURPLE mix from Drop.IO

DAMN I'M GOOD! I didn't even have to use "Prince's Purple Rain or Hendrix's Purple Haze" (even though I do love those songs) I really do try and stay away from the obvious classics, this color was INSANELY hard. I am really proud of this one because of the challenge. This mix is pretty diverse in sound and genre. The flow of it is not that bad either... not the best but still pretty good.

YELLOW mix from Drop.IO

OK as you can see I've been a little obsessed with making these I can't stop. Now... this mix is a little longer then the others, I personally think its overkilled. I think this one is a lot more POPPY & AGGRESIVE, on the plus side it does have more of a solid feel to it for sure. Unfortunately I don't think it is as diverse as the others, this one tends to have a lot of punk and grunge on it. I did put a song on here that I just think is purely ridiculous... again DO ENJOY!

GREEN mix from Drop.IO

The realization I've had during the making of these colored themed mixes: I think for you to be able to enjoy them you must have a pretty open mind, and I'd have say these mixes don't have any solid feel to them. They're good to have on in the background while painting or doing something productive. This is only my 2nd Color and they're not that easy to make. I can say I did make it flow really well.
